Talk:Tasks:Identifying potential sponsors
From TeamFrednetWiki
I suggested this to Fred as well but:
During the Ansari X Prize there was a Canadian team that got a major amount of fundng from GoldenPalace.com
The problem with them is that it may hurt our image, they did sponsor tattoos on peoples bodies.
Potential Sponsors/Advertisers?
I've got some suggestions for potential sponsors and/or advertisers, but since I'm so new to the project I'm leary of approaching them myself- they're likely to want specifics that I don't have, and possibly promises of advertising or concessions that I shouldn't give. Who is the pointman for that sort of thing, Sean Casey, or Fred himself? Fredteam is a group of independent scientists, engineers, school kids (don't be shy about mentioning the Lego competition) and hobbyists working together out of passion to land a robot on the moon- who wouldn't want to be a part of that?! I've separated them by interest. Maybe these have already been tried, but just in case:
- Corporate Entities with an interest in publicly promoting science:
- Discovery Communications (They own Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Space Channel, Discovery Education, HowStuffWorks.com, Discovery Kids... etc) contact info here
- Imaginova (Space.com, Livescience.com, Starry Night...) Contact info here.
- Disney Corporation, not exactly sure who to talk to, but possibly this gentleman.
- Open Sourcers:
- The Open Source Initiative (generally software based, but we're writing some software too, right?) can be contacted here
- SourceForge.net contact info here
- PESWiki
That's off the top of my head, I'm sure there are several other opportunities- like some of the previously mentioned viral marketing ideas, actual Advertising Agencies, or perhaps even some nonprofits or charities. I'll be happy to help hunt down phone numbers.

- Sean heads up the business team, so I would try him if you don't get a response here. --Anders Feder 14:36, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
