Rich Core - Team Management

My interest in space and things off planet Earth started almost as soon as I could read lots of Science Fiction while growing up on a farm in Northern Michigan. I started my career in space while still in college.

While working on a BSEE degree from the University of Michigan, I designed the data collection and analysis part of some human vision experiments in pattern recognition and countermeasures at the Willow Run Rad Labs. Another assignment was at the AEDC Large Rocket Facility of Arnold Air Force Base where I was part of testing Saturn S-IVB J-2 Engine restart inside the altitude/environment chamber. I also worked for Lockheed MSC as an Associate Engineer in the Space Systems Division on the Agena-D Vehicle program.

After relocating to the Silicon Valley and joining Lockheed, I was a Systems Analyst with the Missle Systems Division in the Office of the Chief Engineer. I did lots of programming as well as Polaris test flight simulation and analysis and Atmospheric EMP simulations. During this time I received an MS Computer Science degree from Santa Clara University. After leaving Lockheed, some of my favorite projects include being the Project Lead on the first ever desktop color terminal at Ramtek Corp; programming for and then managing a project that did automatic visual inspection of bank notes (money); (my company) developed all of the software for a North Slope Drilling Platform, for Peter Kiewitt Co., that rolled on the same tractors used for the Saturn V vehicle. I also worked on several robotic inspection systems for companies like FMC and Intel.

Around 1983 I founded Santa Cruz Computer, which provided project management, programming, and testing services to a host of clients including Microsoft, Intel, AMD, Belgium National Bank. Somewhere along the way Fred and I worked together and both attended an early example of social networking called the BluBurger Group. It was a collection of techies and consultants that met monthly to chat and consume fabulous 'Blue Cheese Burgers' at a popular establishment in the middle of Silicon Valley.

Later in my career I mostly did business startup consultation and project management all around the Bay Area. I finally moved my family back to my home town area in Michigan to try to retire :-) Then Fred called!!!!
