Talk:System Overview

From TeamFrednetWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

I just created some of the broad categories, starting to outline the major systems and their subsystems.

This needs better formatting, and some divisions. Rich, Dan, Fred can add their working groups in their proper places, and then we can start subdividing things as necessary. Eventually someone will come up with a standard format for this stuff that looks better than just outline level boxes.

Someone added a link to an external site to this page. I'm not sure if we want to have that directly from here or not. Any thoughts on this? Fjb

No problem because all this information is public and no official. Team FREDNET may change the vision respect this article. This is a way to show that we have clear ideas. No fears.--Joshua 07:31, 21 April 2009 (EDT)

Here is the text that was added to the system overview page: Click http://www.wikipollo.com to see a similar open-source effort. Perhaps worth combining efforts and ideas... post on wikipollo to share ideas! PS Wikipollo has been up since October 2007...Fjb

Well, it appears the wikipollo died on their first birthday... Anyway, I am starting to clean this page and change into an system index page that can provide easy entry points for specific parts of the system. --Alexc 16:04, 11 December 2008 (EST)

A system overview is more than a system index. It needs a more didactic approach.--Joshua 07:39, 21 April 2009 (EDT)
In my understanding (partly based on the first section on the Main_Page) the system is what we build in order to realize the mission, hence my comment below that the mission overview seems out of scope of this page. Same for the teams, which seems better put under organization, which in turn would (together with the mission) be under Program overview or something like that. --Alexc 14:09, 21 April 2009 (EDT)
OK, The word article is changed by section and now have all the sense.--Joshua 15:35, 21 April 2009 (EDT)

I have started a system breakdown on this page. When adding new items to the tree, please only include down to the functional unit level. --Alexc 17:09, 11 December 2008 (EST)

Scope of Article

My original intention with this page was to have a quick index to the system with links to the subsystems. As such, the sections "Three Different Teams" and "Mission Overview" fall outside of the scope. The teams section belong under organization. The Mission Overview definitely deserves its own page with link from the top of this page. If no objections I'll do these changes...
