Rover design studies
From TeamFrednetWiki
Team FREDNET has many smart and creative heads recruited. Many ideas regarding the design of the rover have been - and are going to be - drafted. This page shows all our contributions - regardless if the draft is possible to build or if the design does meet the exigencies of surviving a trip to and on the Moon.
Drafts
| Draft | Designer/Artist | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Surveyor Corp | The SRV-1 was an early bot demonstration from Surveyor Corp in San Luis Obispo, CA. | |
| Jörg Schnyder / phuzzy3D | WRV1 | |
| Tobias Krieger | The idea is to keep it very simple and lightweight. Only two wheels and one body which contains the electronic, the power source, the radio unit and camera module (HD). I added a low power, low resolution navigation camera - for continuous operation. The drive units (DC motors or stepper motors) are in the wheel rim installed.
The body works as counterweight to the torque of the motors - hence the max. torque is limited by the weight of the main body and the arm/displacement of the wheel center axis to the body center axis. The camera module should be capable to tilt up/down, but the pan will be done through turning the rover around it's vertical axis. Next to the lightweight design, the rover is very flexible. It is save against overturning. You can find more pictures in the forum and more info in our portal. | |
