Joerg has now left the virtual world of design and begun the actual build process of his first prototype of WRV1. Below are some pictures of the wheel parts (low resolution: Joerg's professional camera is 200km away at the time these pictures were taken).
The next task is to build the springs, and some more segments.
First I had to create some tools for being able the produce the cut metal sheet parts (thickness 0.8mm). This picture shows some tools and the parts in the order of production. In front is the cutout sheet metal (AL), the outside bent, the fixture bent and finally the holes reinforced.
| Here is a closer look at the tool used to reinforce the holes by beading the borders.
| And here is the result of about 15 hours of preparation and another 4 hours of production (some steps need to be optimized!!). The whole thing weighs about 23 grams (with brass pins instead of Teflon pins).
