Jaluro Organisation

Everybody is welcome to give an input - but this is not for discussion (pls use for that the discussion section of this wikipage or use our frednet forum). The basic idea is tobi's rover concept - see the Rover Design Studies, but is not limited by that. It should easily extendable to a four wheel concept if we see that the design does not achieve our requirements. Keep in mind, that we all are working for a common goal and we finally want to see a frednet rover driving on the luna surface - it doesn't matter on which design idea it is based on. Organisation

We know what we want, so we need a plan and a road map to our destiny, la luna surface. In the first section, we will figure out, how and what we are going to do. It's this borring but neccessary organisational stuff.

There will be no "leader". Each taskforce is in charge of their commited task. Tobias will try to guide each taskforce to the common goal.

By the way, Jaluro is the acronym for Just another lunar rover.

Building Guide

Whatever we do, we shall keep this in our mind:

  • Simple
  • Flexible
  • Durable
  • Open Source
  • Lightweight
  • Teamwork
  • Open Minded
  • Communication
  • Just do it

Basic Units

We have to find solutions for the following units:

  • drive unit
  • drive controller
  • wheel design
  • radio unit
  • antenna
  • camera hd
  • camera nav
  • camera plattform
  • battery pack
  • solar panels
  • power management unit
  • main controller
  • rover body
  • rover axle
  • rover enclosure
  • rover thermal insulation
  • heater (*)
  • software package

Development Process

The following list shall give us an overview over the required milestones, starting from nothing until partying.

  17. Win the GLXP
  18. Drink a beer (or two) - this might be also done intermittend *
  19. Party - at least a week
  • Note: If it is not allowed to you to drink alkohol, all other drinks are good as well

Group Organisation

The group organisation will be a decentralized mamagement. Many tasks will overlap, an active teamwork is a must. Supporting each other with all needed information is a must. Each taskforce is responsible for their commited task and for team and public information work.

Team Budget

There is no Budget until now (Budget=0). We only have human resources and the part that everyone is willing to dispense. If we have big expenses, we have to find a solution for that. In the beginning, let us try to keep expenses as low as possible.

We might have to ask vendors / producers to donate equipement.

Projectmanagement Software

As soon as we are more advanced with the basic layouts, we will most probably to migrate to an adequate project management software like drproject, redmine,...
