Introduction

Some team members are experimenting with using live video broadcasting to document the work they are doing as it happens. Thanks to the evolution in Internet technology and services (both paid and free), live video broadcasting is no longer reserved to commercial TV networks.

To get started with live streaming all you need is a computer with a webcam and a flash capable browser and a good internet connection. The video captured with the camera is streamed in real time to a service provider who will then take care broadcasting it any number of viewers. The web based broadcasting interface works in most cases on both Windows, Linux and Mac.

Services

Ustream

The only place where one can broadcast high definition for free!

Livestream

Standard definition free, high definition only for paying customers (quite expensive).

Tools

The tools listed in this section can be used to enhance the show and bring it to a studio-level production.

Existing channels

Team FREDNET
We have used this channel in a very successful experiment back in 2008. The channel has not been used since then. We hope that in 2010 we can integrate this channel into our evil plans for world domination. http://www.ustream.tv/teamfrednet
