Delay Tolerant Networking
From TeamFrednetWiki
The Delay Tolerant Networking Research Group is developing standards for interplanetary internet -- the integration of the internet with communication links with especially long round trip time. The RFC 4838 describes the Delay Tolerant Networking Architecture. And the RFC 5050 defines the Bundle Protocol.
With respect to TFN, DTN is one possible solution set for the Internetworking problem.
A nice overview of DTN and some descriptions of some of its applications can be found in the ION Design & Operation document.
An interesting development of DTN is its support and simulation in the internet DTN/Bone.
